A Joplin man who said his arrest on a child pornography charge prevented him from committing suicide was sentenced to five years in prison during a hearing this morning in U. S. District Court in Springfield.
As part of his sentence, Robert M. Holley, 45, will be required to participate in a 500-hour drug rehabilitation program. When his sentence is completed, he will be placed on supervised probation for 10 years.
The sentenced handed down by Judge Beth Phillips was the one recommended by Holley's attorney, Michelle Law, in a September 9 sentencing memorandum. The government recommended a 10-year sentence in its memorandum, which was filed the same day.
