The Joplin R-8 Board of Education will have three new members as district voters elected Marda Schroeder (pictured), Matthew Robertson and Veronica Gatz Scheurich to the board today.
Schroeder was the top vote-getter with 1,110, followed by Robertson with 1,024 and Scheurich 1,020
Despite spending more than $10,000 in an attempt to return the board he quit when he didn't get his way in 2015, Mike Landis finished fourth with 951 votes.
None of the three incumbents will return to the board. Board President Jeff Koch finished fifth with 935 votes and Derek Gander, who didn't help himself when he launched an attack against current board member Rylee Hartwell Saturday, finished dead last with 737 votes. The third incumbent, Brent Jordan, did not seek re-election.
Michelle Steverson finished sixth with 752 votes.
Very good.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's great. 2 out of 3 seats purchased by the Ol' Progress Committee folks.
ReplyDeleteBYE DEREK
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled that Koch and Gander are out, and that Landis did NOT get elected! We all still remember that he was a part of the board that allowed Huff to milk our tax money long after he should have been GONE. I know Marda Schroeder will do a good job for the district, staff, and constituents. I do not Know Mr. Robertson, but am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The only new member I am not thrilled with is Scheurich, but without a posse, I don't think she can incur too much damage. Let's hope that this new board configuration will work TOGETHER for the needs of the district with no hidden agendas or back room deals.
ReplyDeleteNow, clean up all your damn signs!
ReplyDelete@ 7:52am You are thrilled with Koch and Gander being gone but bringing in someone that is opposite of them you're not thrilled with? At least explain your reasoning. Now the Koch show is over and should have been a long time ago. Not sure how that guy kept getting elected.
