After issuing a warrant for the arrest of former Carthage Parks Director Mark Peterson Thursday, Jasper County Circuit Court Judge Dean Dankelson recused himself from the case, sending a judicial transfer request to the Missouri Supreme Court.
The case against Peterson, who is charged with two counts of money laundering and three counts of stealing in connection with theft of money from the Carthage Golf Course, may go through more judges before one is found who can hear the case since Peterson is acquainted with other Jasper County judges besides Dankelson.
Before his recusal, Dankelson set the bond for Peterson at $100,000 cash or surety.
Jasper County Circuit Court online records indicate the Jasper County Sheriff's Office served the arrest warrant on Peterson Thursday.
