Greenfield man on ATV cited for fourth DWI, told deputy he had "plenty" to drink

A Greenfield man with three previous driving while intoxicated convictions has been charged with DWI, following a post-midnight ATV ride August 5.

The initial appearance for Patrick Ryan Brown (DOB 1986), who is also charged with resisting arrest, driving an ATV on the highway and driving while revoked/suspended, has been scheduled for 10 a.m. January 2 in Dade County Circuit Court.

According to the probable cause statement, a Dade County Sheriff's Office deputy spotted Brown driving an ATV without any lights on 12:55 a.m. August 5, attempted to pull the vehicle over, but Brown kept going until he reached a U-Haul building at 414 Grand in Greenfield.

The deputy observed slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol from Brown.

"I asked Patrick how much he had to drink to which he stated, 'Plenty.' "

The probable cause statement indicates Brown pleaded guilty to DWI May 3, 2022 in Dade County Circuit Court and October 19, 2022 in Christian County Circuit Court.

At the time the probable cause statement was written, a felony DWI case against Brown involving an injury in Jasper County was still pending.

Despite his two 2022 convictions, Brown was offered a plea agreement by the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office and pleaded guilty September 11 to a reduced charge of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, was sentenced to six months, then received a suspended sentence from Judge David Mouton and was placed on unsupervised probation for two years.
