Joplin man held without bond following attempted robbery of McDonald's drive-through

A Joplin man is being held without bond in the Newton County Jail following an attempted robbery of the drive-through of the McDonald's at 33rd and Range Line Tuesday evening.

According to the probable cause statement, Chad Lee Cargile (DOB 1979) approached the drive-through and said, "Give me all your money," then repeated what he said and "put his hand down to his waistband in a threatening manner.

The McDonald's employee secured the window, stepped away and called a manager.

Cargile left on his bicycle and was arrested shortly afterward, according to the statement.

Cargile has previous convictions for Burglary 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Firearm. Domestic Assault and Assault 3rd Degree.

The attempted armed robbery came three weeks after Jasper County Circuit Court Judge Dean Dankelson issued a warrant for Cargile's arrest for an alleged probation violation and set his bond at $5,000.

The probation violation report was the fifth filed against Cargile after he pleaded guilty April 10 to burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm and was sentenced by Dankelson to four years in prison on each charge with the sentences to run concurrently.

Following a plea bargain agreement between Cargile and the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office, Dankelson suspended Cargile's sentenced and placed him on supervised probation for five years.
