It's back to guns and sex for Rep. Ben Baker, R-Neosho, who prefiled his first two bills of the 2024 session today.
HB 1848 calls for anyone with a concealed carry permit to be allowed to bring their guns into churches and other places of worship.
HB 1849 is labeled as "modifies provisions relating to sexually oriented businesses."
HB 485 was the guns in churches bill in the 2023 session and simply removed churches from the list of places where guns could not be carried. The current law only allows guns with the permission of the minister or the persons who are in control of the church.
The sexually oriented business bill is a repeat of this year's HB 494, which makes "adult cabaret performances" illegal.
This is Baker's anti-drag bill and is similar to bills that have been proposed in many states.
HB 494 offers the following description of what this bill would outlaw:
"Adult cabaret performance", a performance in a location other than an adult cabaret that features topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient interest, or similar entertainers, regardless of whether performed for consideration;
Was just thinking to self: been too long since we've been blessed and enlightened with benny baker news. Time hasn't changed a thing. Here we go again. The over righteous over pious gun toters that benny idolizes are a threat to society and as a group make up a majority of mass killings. Not many men dressed in drag seem to have a place in history as mass murderers. Can you explain that benny? Woops, forgot, body counts are used as rationale for more guns if your a maganut.
ReplyDeleteBen Baker is a joke. He has been elected and reelected because nodecent Republicans in Newton County want the job.
ReplyDelete7:41 Spot on. He should be fixing his senior tax legislation mess.
ReplyDelete4:18am maybe he should return to city council work. Reduce the breadth of destruction.
ReplyDeleteHe's too extreme to the right...like white Christian nationalism extreme right. The deplorables voting for him have a collective lack of education and common sense to know any better.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere a rodeo is missing a goat roper or a clown.

You people are worried about WWIII and meanwhile we’re being taken over by storage units. Wake up!

Hey benny, I don't give a damn about storage buildings because they hold no significant meaning good or bad.
ReplyDeleteIf thats important to you, run for county commissioner. I'm more concerned about the push of Christian nationalism as a cult into schools, government policies, and societal life, as being the next civil war. This is an extreme political front posing as Christianity and its a danger to our freedoms and our way of life.
