I have been out on the roads, and nearly all of them are safe. I am completely confident that the district is safe for students to attend school on Wednesday, January 17.
One issue we do not have that other districts are facing is buses that will not start in the cold weather.
As always, applying common sense with student safety as our main focus, we should go to school tomorrow.
Stay safe and reach out if you need me.

I want to applaud our transportation staff for their forward thinking and treatment of the bus fuel so they will start in the extreme cold. I also want to applaud our maintenance and custodial staff, who have braved the cold and have the district ready for school now.

The following message had been posted on the Facebook page a couple of hours earlier:
We understand the concerns of both our dedicated students yearning for another day off and our parents eagerly awaiting a return to their work routines after spending quality time with their children on Monday and Tuesday.
Your well-being is our top priority, and Dr. Cook wants to assure you that he is approaching this decision with the utmost compassion and consideration. Dr. Cook is gathering information about the road conditions after dark. Once he has all of the information needed. We will let you know the decision, definitely by 8 p.m., allowing everyone to plan accordingly.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these considerations. Stay tuned, and take care!
He personally drove the roads right after he had his nightly beers at the Elks Club in Webb City. He figured if he could drive safely after a few beers, then everyone could drive them safely in the morning.
ReplyDeleteIf the this area needs to know the kind of whiny ass snowflakes live in Carl Junction just go read the district social media pages and enjoy the drama
ReplyDeleteIt’s always been this way with Carl can’t win, form your own league with schools you can beat don’t want to go to school because the weather is bad whine publicly about it the parents in that district are a bunch of over privileged elitists who will argue until they think they are right feel bad for the teachers in that district
Basketball team made it to Nixa and back Tuesday without any issues probably should be in school today
ReplyDeleteIt is too cold for our kids to go to school. If climate change caused by these Repubelicans was not rapidly getting worse we wouldn't have these problems.
ReplyDeleteWTF is wrong with @11:37?
ReplyDeleteWent and started reading the upset parents comments on the CJ Facebook page and stopped after about 200 comments no way I could have read all 400 or more. I find it interesting the same parents are so upset about a decision made to be in session or not yet the same parents either didn’t care or turned a blind eye when the 2-3 principal and vice principal were having an affair for over two years and the superintendent was fully aware and did nothing to stop it. Where is the outrage about that?
ReplyDeleteMy Gosh - Safety First, but if the Roads are Safe and the Kids Played Basketball - Out of Town - they should be going back to School. If the Schools have No Heating Issues, then we should allow these kids to continue their education.
ReplyDeletePeople seem to forget - that Past Generations endured Cold Weather and was able to get an Education - in much, much, worse conditions - than the current or future generations will ever have to face. Let's stop hindering the Education of our Children - when all the majority of the people just want to do is complain or gripe - how it might affect them - - If they are having school and you don't want to send your child - THEN DON'T - - But Just Stop Complaining or get Onboard - - Everyone today - has to have their 15-Minutes of Fame every Day on Social Media - to Complain and Complain -
Yet - if these same people who are Complaining so much works for a Business - Your Employer made the Decisions of whether to have their Company open on a Snow Day or not - - If you do not want to go to work - you do not get Paid or Possibly lose your Job - Your Decision - But Your Employer made the Decision just as the Superintendent or Principal - Stay Home or Goto Work or School - BUT JUST SHUT UP AND LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES.
