According to a probable cause statement filed today in Jasper County Circuit Court, a Joplin woman who was caught taking a shopping cart with $1,145.10 worth of merchandise out of a local store without paying for it, said she did it because she was promised by a partner in crime that she would be "hook her up."

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged Tara Marie Ballaro (DOB 1984) and her alleged accomplice Danielle Gunnels, (DOB 1988), Pittsburg, Kansas, with felony stealing.

The probable cause statement alleges Ballaro and Gunnels pushed two separate carts around the store December 30, the met with Gunnels loading her items into Ballaro's basket.

Tara pushed the single shopping cart containing all of the combined merchandise out the south doors without paying.

The plan was not successful as store employees confronted Ballaro and she left the store without the merchandise.

The probable cause statement does not indicate if the hookup ever took place.
