A Monett businesswoman pleaded guilty this afternoon in U. S. District Court in Springfield to trafficking in counterfeit goods.
The indictment was unsealed and Tara Kingrey, 31, acknowledged she had sold counterfeit Louis Vuitton purses, handbags, wallets, necklaces and other products that were actually manufactured in Hong Kong and China.
Under the plea agreement, the government has agreed not to file any more charges for trafficking in counterfeit goods that have been sold through Kingrey's business.
No date has been scheduled for sentencing, Kingrey remains free on bond.
I'm curious. Did her customers really think they were buying authentic Louis Vuitton items at this shop in Monett????
ReplyDeleteI'm curious also, if she wasn't advertising or presenting them as authentic then she's no different than Amazon or hundreds of other online retailers that sell 'dupes". There is more to this story.
DeleteWith the general intelligence level in the Four Corners it's hard to believe the locals could ever be fooled into buying a fake. Was it the tourists shopping there that were being fooled?
