Impeachment of Mayor Dan Rife on agenda for special Carthage City Council meeting

With five new Carthage City Council members comes change and one of the changes being considered is the impeachment of Mayor Dan Rife.

A discussion of articles of impeachment against Rife is on the agenda for a special council meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday in council chambers at City Hall.

The council will also consider a change in policy to prohibit city employees from talking to the media about city-related issues without council or committee approval.

A closed session is scheduled for personnel issues, which may include the firing of City Administrator Greg Dagnan.

The flex by the utility interests is saying - we WILL usurp your municipal authority and you WILL NOT succeed in disrupting our “arrangements”

Just so we are clear, the people who have been complaining for over a year about city officials pursuing personal agendas and vendettas have held their offices for 2 days and are holding a special session to impeach a duly elected mayor so they can fire 2 officials they don’t like.

The same people that have called for transparency are also considering a policy that will prevent city officials from speaking to the media.

    Hmmmmmmm…

Still doesn't answer the blatant censorship and tarnishing of the rights of CWEP employees.

I’ve read plenty about it. The fact that CCU was started by a man that has been charged with embezzling $140k from the city tells me all I need to know. This is nothing more than the good ol’ boys circling the wagons for one of their own.

That’s because of what the mayor did, I don’t support this.

This is all to suspicious. I can't help but think that this is simply new money vs old money. Nothing about this so far is telling me it's about any principles. This is purely personal
I fear that Carthage may have voted away their rights.
