Judge orders Joplin man held without bond on fentanyl trafficking, weapons charges


U. S. District Court Judge David P. Rush today ordered Landon Lee Laurance 21, Joplin, held without bond on fentanyl trafficking and weapons charges.

The evidence at the detention hearing established that defendant had multiple photographs on his phone of multiple Glock pistols which had been converted to machineguns. The evidence also established that the defendant was engaged in the transfer of firearms and controlled substances. Based on all the foregoing, the Courts finds by clear and convincing evidence that the defendant is a danger to the community.
According to the indictment, Lawrence possessed fentanyl with intent to distribute on August 30, 2023, possessed a firearm that had been converted into a machine gun on the same day.
