A Racine man is being held in the Newton County Jail after being arrested on felony charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, driving while intoxicated with a fatality and misdemeanor charges of no valid license, no insurance and careless and imprudent driving.
Highway Patrol troopers arrested Richard S. Taylor, 35, today at a Carterville home.
Taylor was allegedly driving a Dodge Dakota 7:13 p.m. Friday on Douglas Fir Road a half mile south of Joplin Friday when he struck and killed a pedestrian, Sheldonna A. Wood, 60, Joplin, and then fled the scene.
This is not Taylor's first brush with the law nor the first time he has been accused of leaving the scene of an accident.
A Joplin Police Department arrest report showed Taylor, then a Carthage resident, was cited January 25, 2018 with leaving the scene of an accident and careless and imprudent driving.
A March 13, 2014 JPD arrest report indicates he was cited for DWI.
Jasper County Circuit Court records do not have any charges connected to either arrest, nor any charges for a March 21, 2019 JPD arrest for resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.
Repeat Offenders! DUI's / DWI's / Drug Users / Thief's / Pedophiles - We seem to always be willing to give these Individuals - Multiple Opportunities to Clean Up their Acts, because we are Soft on Criminals, yet the Inevitable is always going to happen.
ReplyDeleteThen they End-Up Hurting or Killing someone and we Wonder Why? When they should have been dealt with on the First Charge, Not the Second, Third, Fourth, or Five or More Times. People need to Realize that the Majority of these Criminals have Committed these Crimes Multiple Times but had not got caught in the Past and will Continue down the same Path - So we need to Deal with them when they are Finally caught and not Coddle them - and give them more chances to Hurt or Kill Individuals in our Society.
Stop Feeling Sorry for Criminals and Feel Sorry for their Victims. Put them in Jail - Day One!
But Dr Joseph’s kid can avoid any real consequences.
ReplyDelete2 tier justice system. It is sickening. He committed the EXACT same crime.
DeleteExactly
DeleteWhat upsets me most is that those two are cut from the same cloth. They both left an innocent person to die. 1 will pay dearly for his crime. The other will brag to his buddies about how daddy’s money makes him above the law. Bad parenting. Bad people.
ReplyDelete7:09AM - Please elaborate, I was not aware of the issues with Dr. Joseph's kid. I guess I missed that story.
ReplyDeleteWas it his kid or a grandchild?
Judges and Prosecutors have the victims blood on their hands as well, Disgraceful
ReplyDeleteTo the one asking about Dr Joseph. Same crime, didn’t get arrested or truck impounded. Looks like he’s gonna skate on this. https://www.fourstateshomepage.com/local-news/galena/deadly-hit-and-run-investigation-now-complete/amp/
