(From Freeman Health)Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer Paula Baker announced on Tuesday a key change to the Freeman leadership team, with Freeman Internist Amanda Harrell, DO, named as the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Baker said Dr. Harrell will be transitioning into her new role over the coming months. The Freeman CMO provides oversight and direction of the medical care provided by Freeman as well as leadership to the Freeman medical staff.
“I am excited to have her join our senior administrative team,” Baker said.
David Baker, DO, who has served as Freeman’s CMO since 2021, will return to clinical surgery practice at Freeman, she said. Dr. Baker is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and specializes in general surgery.
“I want to personally thank Dr. Baker for his service to Freeman in the Chief Medical Officer role,” she said. “His guidance was instrumental in navigating our COVID response as well as many other challenges we have encountered over his tenure.”
Dr. Harrell – who joined Freeman Southeast Internal Medicine in August 2016 – earned her medical degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Kansas City, Mo., and completed her internal medicine residency at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Kansas City, Mo.
Poor DR Baker. It looks like his master plan to become CEO did not work out after all. Well, back to clinical medicine I suppose. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for Dr Harrell she is absolutely amazing knows what she's doing but Lord I hope this doesn't mean I'm losing my PCP!! She's too amazing
ReplyDeleteHopefully with New Administrators they will take a more Positive Approach and adhere to being more Transparent and Stop Buying Billboards to Stroke Paula Baker's Ego or anyone else's.
ReplyDeleteI suspect Dr. Harrell was given the position with all the right motives- Just like Dr. Estep before here.
ReplyDeleteDave Baker became CMO and received a 50% pay cut in order to try to finagle his way into CEO. This was literally his only motive, NOT the job itself. As it played out, obviously he didn’t have the chops to ever be CEO and the writing was on the wall when the new CEO from Ozark was announced a few months ago.
So the medical staff eagerly welcomes Dr. Harrell as a physician of character, intellect, and pure motive.
This above - yes.
DeleteI loved Dr Harrell when she was my primary care doctor. Congrats to her.
