The Globe announced today that Katherine Miller, who began her newspaper career in Joplin, is the new publisher.
From the company issued news release (referred to as "from staff reports" in the newspaper and on the website):
“I am very excited to be back in Joplin where I grew up, began my career and raised my children," Miller said. "I still have strong ties to this community with family and friends who reside here."Joplin has always been the place I call home and I look forward to spending my time getting reacquainted with the community. My goal is to continue to guide The Joplin Globe in this ever-changing world and build on the positive strides the talented team have been making.”
Miller has lengthy experience as a publisher with CNHI, the company that owns the Globe. She is currently publisher of two other CNHI publications, the Norman Transcript in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Chickasha Express-Star, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
She will continue as publisher of those newspapers, as well as being saddled with the Globe.
Miller has her work cut out for her. She is the fifth Globe publisher in the last six and a half years.
Brendel replaced Frank Leto, who had the job from July 2018 to October 2019. Leto replaced Michael Beatty.
Tough Job, with a good majority of People utilizing News Streaming Services and the Internet for their News - the old Black and White Paper is just a Collector's Item - although the Globe does have a Digital Presence - it is still somewhat lacking in Quality News Reporting. Since Ads and the Cost to Post Obituaries are unbelievable costly - just to keep the paper afloat.
ReplyDeleteSpoke with three former colleagues tonight (all of us are former Globe newsroom employees) and the first thing we each said was, who is she? None of us had ever heard of her.
ReplyDeleteWish her the best of luck but the countdown until the paper goes from seven days a week to once a week continues. It’s inevitable.
