(From Missouri Southern State University)Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) Board of Governors received updates on the highly anticipated expansion of a proposed Baccalaureate in Nursing degree, which will address the critical shortage of registered nurses and nursing faculty in the Four State region.
Chair of the McCune-Brooks Department of Nursing, Lisa M. Beals, DNP, provided the Board with detailed insights on the program’s growth. She highlighted the Missouri State Board of Nursing's approval for the program's expansion, which includes the addition of a second pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) cohort starting in Spring 2026.
In addition to the cohort expansion, MSSU has also secured a $347,252 grant from the state’s Nursing Education Incentive Program. This funding will support the development and implementation of a Master of Science program with a Nurse Education emphasis, further enhancing MSSU’s ability to address workforce shortages.
The Board also saw the latest outcomes of MSSU nursing graduates, citing recent reports from the National Council Licensure Examination, which demonstrate the high quality of education and preparation provided by the university’s nursing program.

It is important to Not let what happened in the Teaching Field happen in the Nursing Field. We need to make sure that we have a Plan to support the growing Population that will need Healthcare and that includes the current shortage of Nurses -
ReplyDeleteYes, there is definitely a shortage of Nurses - BSN, RN, LPN, CNA's. With the Population Ageing and Healthcare in Crisis Mode - the need is ever Greater than Anticipated to Aid and work with providing a continuous group of nurses to fill the future growth requirements in the Nursing Field.
I am still undecided on this topic.
ReplyDeleteIs there really a problem, and if there is a problem, is this the right solution?
The random capitalizer has spoken, I will wait to hear from Scooby Doo and Fat Albert before making a decision!
Seriously though, what would happen if nurses were paid more and allowed to actually have enough nurses on the floor to actually do their job correctly?
Would there still be a shortage of nurses?
Isn't the real problem a crapified profession bue to decades of cost cutting by the over paid suits running the hospitals?
Not to forget the so called 'health insurance' industry leeches and crooks either.
Perhaps what is really needed is fewer MBAs and paper pushers in the hospitals and clinics.
Let's hear what Scooby Doo has to say!
Lots of nolege on this here page
DeleteWe would likely have more nurses if they didn’t fire the one that didn’t want to take the experimental jab. Society lost a wealth of knowledge with the ones that left.
ReplyDeleteIf nurses refused the "experiential" jab that saved millions of lives, they should be disqualified to be in any health care position, except for guinea pig purposes for the next pandemic. Theres no room in health care for ignorant deniers of fact, or, purveyors of outrageous conspiracy theories. Those individuals can go serve their orange master while the rest of us follow the hippocratic oath and save lives......even for all you barren and wistful magats who needed health care that saved your life from dying of covid. You know who you are.
Delete8:42AM, Always the Antagonist, with a Cartoon Character Attitude and Never any Concept of Reality and Facts! Today's Facts are we have a Shortage of Nurses - in all Educational Standard Classifications - BSN, RN, LPN, CNA, Etc., -
ReplyDeleteHospitals are a Business - PLAIN AN SIMPLE - Insurance Companies are a Business - PLAIN AN SIMPLE - and require - a Level of Business (MBA's) to run them, but the Grass Roots of Day to Day Care are Nurses - Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing Homes, Rehab Centers - Cannot Fill the Necessary Open Jobs Available - There is not enough Qualified Nurses Available in the Market - whether you could Afford to Pay them High Salaries or Not - There is Not the Number of Trained Nurses to Fill the Employment Roles. Can You Understand that 8:42AM - IS THAT CAPITALISED ENOUGH FOR YOU TO READ?
Again, For People with Simple Minds that Barely even Read the Article and Comment - Maybe You Need to do some Research - - Scooby-Doo
The United States is facing a growing nursing shortage:
Demand for nurses is increasing
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that demand for registered nurses will grow by 6% from 2023–2033. This is due to a number of factors, including:
Aging population: The U.S. population over 65 is growing rapidly, and this demographic requires more medical services.
Longer lifespans: People are living longer, which means they need care for longer periods of time.
According to a Health Workforce Analysis published by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in November 2022, federal authorities project a shortage of 78,610 full-time RNs in 2025 and a shortage of 63,720 full-time RNs in 2030. The ten states with the largest projected nursing shortage in 2035 are Washington (26%), Georgia (21%), California (18%), Oregon (16%), Michigan (15%), Idaho (15%), Louisiana (13%), North Carolina (13%), New Jersey (12%), and South Carolina (11%). Data for each state may be accessed through HRSA’s Workforce Projections Dashboard
Well Fat Albert - Which is Probably Self Descriptive - thinks you can just throw Money at a Problem and it is Magically Solved - Showing his/her Lack of how the Real-World Works - You have to have the Bodies - and they are Not Available for the Demand We have or will need -
We have been throwing Money at Education for Years in the United States - Where has that gotten us - Missouri Ranked 34th in the Nation and the United States is 13th in the World - - Teachers have the Biggest Union in the United States over 3,000,000 Million Plus Members - The National Education Association (NEA), Yet the Teachers cannot make a Decent Wage - Why is that - Could it be that the NEA - Endorses the Democratic National Committee (DNC) - and all of their Ridiculous Policies.
The Medical, Insurance, and Pharmaceutical Companies - Need to be Revamped - Granted, but until then - We have to deal with the Shortage of Nurses -
Plus 8:42AM - Twelve years ago, Democrats unloaded the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, onto the American people. Another Democratic Program - that Costs Americans - Dearly.
1. Obamacare has increased the cost of health care and health insurance.
2. Obamacare increases Americans’ reliance on the federal government.
3. On a per person basis, Obamacare is far more expensive than anticipated for taxpayers.
4. Obamacare’s “expansion” is due in large part to improper Medicaid enrollments.
5. Obamacare is one step closer to socialized health care.
Thanks Democrats - - When Government is Involved in any Program - it can Never be ran Properly -
Most impressive 833. Your longest rant of rightwing talking point misinformation in some time. Fact: Obamacare provides affordable health insurance to middle to low income Americans who, because of preexisting conditions, otherwise would be uninsured creating an even greater burden on an already broken health system. 833, your magatview of the country and world is so misguided that you can google a bunch of random statistics and conflate them into said magatview. Kinda like denying 1/6/2020 and astronauts walking on the moon and believing neither ever happened. So gullible. So misguided.
DeleteThank you for that information 8:33PM, very useful!
ReplyDeleteLooking around I never would have suspected the U.S. population is growing older. Whatever happened to the baby boom? Is that not a thing anymore?
No lack of right wing stink tanks providing so called 'facts'
ReplyDeletefor the easily fooled!
5:16PM, What another unintelligent comment - Yes, the Population is getting Older, but the majority of us are going to be living longer - maybe not you, or Fat Albert and Scooby-Doo, but the majority of us that take our Health and Healthcare Seriously - and we will need Nurses to be part of that Process.
ReplyDeletePlus, some of us are fortunate and do not have to depend on Obamadontcare Health Insurance. Of course, you and 7:55AM - Keep drinking the Democratic Kool-Aid. Kamala Harris - Just Called and Needs more Money for her Campaign Debts - Because her "Fights Continues" or should we say - her "Debts Continues".
Again, Facts for the Leftist Liberal Democrats -
Yes, birth rates in the United States have been declining for decades, and in 2023 they reached a record low:
So, when you or your Family Member is sitting in a Hospital or Clinic waiting to be seen or admitted - then maybe you will remember - We have a Shortage of Nurses to Help You - I Doubt You Will - But the Rest of Us will Know the Truth - Not the Color of the Kool-Aid you Drank and Democratic Lies You Believe...
Hey, hey, hey, 829. As a late boomer growing up, I loved watching scooby doo and fat Albert while drinking my grape Kool-Aid. Probably aquired many of my family values watching Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith. Thanks for retriggering my childhood memories!
