Barton County Sheriff's Office mourns loss of staff member

On May 14, 2025, at 10:35 p.m., Barton County Emergency Dispatch received a call about a motorcycle accident with injuries at the intersection of Depot Street and 160 Highway in Golden City.

When the Golden City Fire Department arrived on the scene, they confirmed the injuries and immediately started lifesaving measures on the victims. Medical helicopters were requested to transport the injured to hospitals in the area to continue treating them.

While responding, deputies learned that one of the injured was a member of the Barton County Sheriff's Office.

On May 19, 2025, Chloe Brower succumbed to her injuries sustained in the accident at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Chloe started her employment at the Sheriff's Office in May of 2024. She was an asset to the department. She was always willing to do whatever was needed of her.

Chloe will be missed by all of her family here at the Barton County Sheriff's Office. Our prayers go out to her two children, her parents, her siblings and all of her family.
