(From Sen. Jill Carter, R-Granby)Session has concluded for the legislature. This next few weeks we will focus on the highlights of the session and give you a snapshot of what got passed.SB150 was a bill we sponsored that was a broad, sweeping education reform bill that included a major expansion of career and technical education opportunities.
Representative Ann Kelley has long had a deep passion for advancing career tech programs, and it was an honor to work with her on this important issue.
The key provision allows students who qualify for A+ funding to use those resources toward certification programs. I was proud to work with her to help get this bill across the finish line and deliver meaningful opportunities for Missouri students.
SB150 also put into place articulation agreements between higher education and two year colleges, so students do not have to repeat credit hours when they move from a 2 to 4 year institution, saving students costs and loss of time.
Lastly, SB150 also expanded the mission statement for Missouri Southern State University, to include immersive experience, and life and health sciences. A great win for MSSU and the region.
