During a hearing May 12 in Jasper County Circuit Court, Judge David Mouton rejected former Carl Junction R-1 choir teacher Craig Smith's second motion for bond reduction.
Smith is being held on a $100,000 cash bond on a stalking charge and $300,000 cash or surety for possession of child pornography.
Smith's next hearing, which will either be for pretrial motions or a change of plea, is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 10.
In his motion for Smith's bond reduction, which was filed May 8, his attorney, Jonathan Pierce, detailed the reasons he thought his client should have a lower bond on the stalking charge:
That defendant will reside at 301 Sherry Lane, Carl Junction, Missouri, and defendant’s wife resides at the residence. Also, defendant’s son, 18-year-old male and defendant’s son, 22-year-old male, reside at the residence.
That defendant does not plan to attend any drug treatment.
That defendant is able to gain part time employment.
That undersigned counsel is unaware of the State’s position on bond.

ReplyDeleteThank goodness Craig Smith is on house arrest, unable to leave, and wearing an ankle monitor until his trail - April 2026. To think that this pervert was actually teaching our children in Carl Junction for years gives me nightmares.
ReplyDeleteThe police found over 600 lewd images of small children on his computer. In addition, the young woman he was stalking will never be the same emotionally. How did he hide his sick addictions from his wife and his family members.
