The Newton County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed driving while intoxicated and methamphetamine possession charges against a Lamar man following a traffic stop Sunday at 4800 W. Downstream Boulevard.
According to the probable cause statement, James Andrew Hillman (DOB 1979) was pulled over after he hit a curb while exiting a parking lot and then failed to use his turn signal.
During a search of Hillman's person, the deputy found a light green straw.
James advised the green straw was a part of a Star Wars toy. A field test was comlpeted on the green straw and a positive hit for methamphetamine was present, according to the probable cause statement.
Another search of Hillman was conducted at the Newton County Jail turning up a small plastic bag with methamphetamine, the statement said.
