JPD releases name of victim in fatality crash at North Main and Murphy Boulevard

(From the Joplin Police Department)

At around 10:48 a.m. on November 22nd, 2025, the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center began receiving 911 calls regarding an injury crash at the intersection of North Main and Murphy Blvd. Joplin Police, Joplin Fire, and METS Ambulance responded.

When responders arrived, it was determined that a red SUV had been northbound on Main Street approaching a steady red light at Murphy Blvd.

The red SUV entered the intersection, crossing southbound lanes, traveled over a curb, and while northbound, struck a vehicle which was stopped, while and in traffic waiting to continue westbound on Murphy Blvd. Following the collision, the red SUV continued northbound and struck a utility pole and came to a stop. Despite rescue efforts, the driver of the red SUV was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the other vehicle involved did not report any injuries.

The Joplin Police Department’s Major Crash Team responded to the scene to investigate. The events leading to the crash will continue to be investigated.

The driver of the red SUV was identified as Linda Bryson, 83, of Joplin, Missouri. Next of kin has been notified.

This crash is still an open, active investigation.

As the holiday season approaches, the Joplin Police Department wants to remind drivers to stay vigilant while on the roadways. Allow more time for traveling as there will be more vehicles on the roadways. If there is a possibility of consuming intoxicating substances, designate a driver ahead of time and consider ride sharing services.
