Woman shot to death in Monett apartment complex parking lot

Around 1:04 p.m. on December 20, 2025, Monett police officers responded to a 911 call received by Barry County Emergency Services E9-1-1 at the 300 block of Fairway Avenue.

Barry County 911 reported a female was shot in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Monett officers arrived and located a 30-year-old white adult female of Monett deceased in the parking lot of the apartment complex. A 33-year-old adult male suspect was barricaded in his residence with a child.

Monett Police Department was assisted by the Barry County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and MSHP SWAT team.

The suspect surrendered himself and is in custody without further incident. The child was not harmed.

The Monett Fire Department and Barry/Lawrence County Ambulance District assisted with the call.

At this time, the Monett Police Department is conducting an investigation regarding the death of the female. There is no ongoing threat to the public. No further information is available at this time.
