(From Stotts City Mayor Tracy Knight)Mayor Tracy Knight announced today that, despite multiple good-faith attempts throughout the month of June to convene the Board of Aldermen and conduct the City’s business, the City of Stotts City was unable to hold a single official meeting because a quorum of the Board was not present.
Throughout the month, the Mayor scheduled meetings, provided the required notices, coordinated with city officials, and appeared prepared to conduct official business. On each occasion, however, the absence of a quorum prevented the Board from legally taking any action.
As a result, essential municipal business—including financial matters, policy decisions, personnel issues, audit-related corrective actions, infrastructure matters, and other items requiring Board approval—remains delayed.
“The residents of Stotts City deserve a government that is present, functioning, and accountable,” said Mayor Knight. “My responsibility is to ensure opportunities exist for the Board to conduct the City’s business. That responsibility has been fulfilled through repeated attempts to convene official meetings. Unfortunately, without a quorum, Missouri law prohibits the Board from taking official action.”
Following the lack of a quorum at the June 26, 2026 meeting, residents remained to express their concerns regarding the continued inability of the City to conduct official business. During the informal gathering, citizens publicly presented a written resolution to the Mayor calling for immediate action to restore effective governance. Residents also announced their intention to distribute the resolution to each alderman, the City Attorney, the City Clerk, and appropriate state agencies for review.
The Mayor accepted the resolution and acknowledged the residents’ continued commitment to transparent and accountable government.
“The concerns expressed by our residents deserve to be heard,” Mayor Knight stated. “While no official action could be taken because a quorum was not present, I remain committed to documenting these events, communicating openly with the public, and pursuing every lawful avenue available to move our city forward.”
Mayor Knight reaffirmed her commitment to transparency, accountability, and compliance with Missouri law and stated that she will continue working with residents, state agencies, and other appropriate partners to address the issues currently affecting city operations.
The inability to conduct official meetings for an entire month represents a significant interruption in the City’s ability to perform the functions entrusted to its elected government. The Mayor emphasized that restoring the Board’s ability to meet and conduct business remains a top priority.
I am hearing terrible things about Stotts City. Just terrible. People are telling me — very smart people, the smartest people — that some of you elected officials are not giving this city your complete and undivided attention. That’s bad. Very, very bad. Frankly, it’s a disgrace.

When you keep checking your phone while the mayor is in the middle of making an absolutely tremendous point, not good. Wrong. It makes most people very upset unless they're your spouses, cousins, or maybe even your supporters are the cousins you married!.
You think we don’t see it? You think we don’t know when you’re not absorbing the words completely? We know it, and for anyone caught doing it, the people need to be considering sanctions, maybe even asking for some of those imprecatory prayer type sanctions!
Nothing major at first.
Maybe your car remote only works when you’re standing in the bathroom. Maybe every shopping cart you touch develops an annoying, mysterious wobble. Maybe your underwear slowly starts to uncomfortably bind you up throughout the day.
Maybe it goes on over time because you are slow to change your ways.
Maybe it starts getting worse and worse, and you mistake your skunk scent for your underarm or private parts deodorant and people really start to know there's something wrong with you!.

There’s talk that you should be investigated. Lots of people are saying it. It has everything to do with elected officials hiding from doing their jobs. Weak and incomplete reports? Completely missing reports? You should face consequences because it’s UNAMERICAN!!! . When you criticize what the mayor says or posts, all you've got is fake news, just fake people faking doing their elected duties and covering up. Sometimes lazy lardasses are mad because they are called out for their desertion of their duties.

How about the fact that the mayor was informed hours in advance of the first June “rescheduled “ meeting and could have postponed the meeting or started it later than 6pm. Or the fact that the alderman were not given sufficient time to come up with an alternative date before the mayor scheduled a special meeting on a date she was informed, prior to the first, one alderman would be unavailable . Or were you informed that the unavailable alderman publicly informed people of his unavailability yet the mayor would not try and reschedule. I know this is a complete waste because haters will always hate and drama lovers will always want to create drama.
It’s too bad the city doesn’t have a police department. Missouri law allows the mayor to direct the police to bring aldermen to the meeting if they won’t show up.
ReplyDeleteMayor Knight was working with the Alderman, who set the June 12 meeting.. Then Lo and behold one of the Aldermen didn't show so there wasn't a quorum. Mayor Knight knew there was business that desperately needed taking care of so she tried setting the meeting for another day. Asking the Aldermen for their input without getting any response! There is federal loan payments, electricity bills , payroll and other bills that should be paid by the the last of the month. Beside needing to discuss the Audit .

You are stooping so low as to pass a Petition to DISINCORPORATION the City of Stotts City Mo. without telling people what it really is or letting them read it! Do you really know what will happen if that happens! Whoever is responsible for the situation in the audit will definitely be found and prosecuted!. Also taxes will go up, , they will able to cease your property .
The problem of the audit doesn't go away, so let's just do things the right and legal way. If you don't want to take your job as alderman seriously then step down! There is others who care about our town and is willing to be Alderman. I'm sure

We was told last night that someone informed the Mayor that the City Clerk was giving the Ok by Alderman Shepherd to use the Debit Card to pay the bill if they didn't have a meeting in that month. Is this really legal to pay yourself, or your spouse?
There is too many things that aren't adding up! All we want is our town to have good roads, our water and sewer system upgrades where it is supposed to be! We want our Ordinances on file so people can see them! The City is supposed to have 3 copy's on file. We want the City Books where we can see where the money is going!. Most of all what in the world is Ms.Nicki Perriman doing with all this paperwork in her home? Also WHY IS SHE PUTTING CITY BUSINESS ON HER PERSONAL COMPUTER????????????! Guessing by law that makes it City property now! Also she stated to someone she had City money in a drawer at her house?????? Don't really believe any of this is LEGAL.

If so, where were these candidates and the voters to support them during the last election (April 7 2026) ??
144 registered voters in Stotts City
Alderman positions – vote for two with four official candidates – results indicate 109 votes cast for all positions – for arguments sake lets make it 110 total votes – assuming this, lets take that to represent a total of 55 voters, each casting two votes – will allow that may not be 100% accurate but good enough
So total voters for Alderman are 38% of registered voters –
Four official candidates, 3 named and 1 official write in spot
Each candidate received approximately 25 % or the actual total vote or approximately 17% of registered voters
NOTE: there was only one certified write in candidate – that position received 15 votes and the rest cast under write in (16 votes) were not eligible to count for elective purposes -
All winners were elected with I or 2 votes difference
So maybe more candidates, more voters, different results
Weird every meeting the mayor scheduled every alderman couldn’t make it. If I was an alderman or city clerk and knowing about the audit and the issues I’d made damn sure my schedule was open to clarify no wrong doing and try makimg things right. But instead alderman and city clerk think they are above the law. What is fine in the dark always comes to light. I think they forgot they are suppose to be working for the city the people but they are not.

I think the alderman city clerk water lady and the meter reader maintance man should go, obviously there’s an ongoing issue and the people dont want them there. And they are not about working with the mayor or the people so why stay where your not wanted especially since you can’t do your job correctly. Or show up for meetings or let the people see the town ordinances.
DeleteThere’s a rat amongst the mayor and “her people” so give it a few months because there is some interesting things about to happen. 🙂 The truth is coming out on their side as well…watch and see.
