The Cherokee County District Attorney's Office will recommend probation for a Sarcoxie man who pleaded guilty today to attempted commercial sexual exploitation of a child and attempted aggravated endangering of a child.
Sentencing for Derek Tyrel McKenney, 32, is scheduled for 10 a.m. October 1 in Cherokee County District Court in Columbus.
As part of the plea agreement, two other charges, attempted aggravated human trafficking and electronic solicitation were dismissed.
According to the complaint, McKenney arranged to meet with someone he thought was an underage girl for sex. He was actually communicating with an undercover officer.

Doesn’t matter if he did or didn’t actually meet the underage child. He needs to be locked up before he actually does commit the crime next time! These other states and counties are following Missouri with a slap on the wrist! Disgusting
