Progress Missouri asks for comments on Medicaid expansion

Legislative committees have been holding hearings on Medicaid Expansion all summer, including everything from powerpoint presentations on Missouri’s current medicaid program, to taking a committee on the road to hear hours of testimony across the state.

One thing is clear: there is overwhelming support for Medicaid Expansion throughout Missouri.  And yet, in the face of so many witnesses testifying in favor of Expansion, there are still plenty of legislators who claim they still need to “study” the issue and continue to request additional testimony from citizens.  

Make sure your voice is heard by submitting your official testimony TODAY.  All you need to do is complete this short form,  and we’ll take care of submitting your comments to the Committee.

Let’s make sure our elected leaders understand what an overwhelming majority looks and sounds like--tell them why you support Medicaid Expansion TODAY.

Tim Jones: House not likely to try to override HB 253 veto

In a statement that is likely to leave many in his party angry, Speaker of the House Tim Jones, R-Eureka, says his chamber is unlikely to try to override Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of HB 253:

Jones made his comments on the St. Louis public radio program “Politically Speaking.”Asked about the bill, Jones said, “It is likely, likely I would not even attempt an override.”Jones’ comments are an apparent victory for opponents of the bill, who have warned of dire consequences if the bill is signed into law.“Overriding this veto will be monumental if it happens. Right now, I have to say, I don’t know if we have the numbers for it,” Jones said on the program.
