Davison joins Press staff, Dunson to Globe

Former Joplin Globe sports writer Michael Davison, who was unceremoniously dumped by the newspaper in July, has landed on his feet and is doing general assignment reporting at The Carthage Press.
Judging from the articles that have been posted on the Press' website, Davison has done some coverage of the Carthage R-9 School District, health coverage, and has written a personal column.
Davison joins the growing rank of former Joplin Globe reporters who have wound up on area competitors, following in the footsteps of Joplin Daily Editor John Hacker and Joplin Tri-State Business Editor Jeff Wells.
I am not sure of the logistics of the whole thing, but Davison may be taking the position recently vacated by Melissa Dunson, who left The Press for a staff writer position on the Globe. Dunson had been a lifestyles/general assignment reporter during her time in Carthage. Ms. Dunson is writing business articles for the Globe, an apparent reaction to the two business newspapers, the aforementioned Joplin Tri-State Business and the Joplin Business Journal.

A rose to Dunson, a thorn to Davison. Not a nice fella. Let him toil in the obscurity that is the Carthage Press. Talk about a vanilla paper!

You never mentioned anything about Max McCoy's departure? Heard he is in Colorado now? Guess that will make Nodler happy.

Good for Davison! He's welcome in booming Northwest Arkansas anytime, btw.

  4. I hadn't heard about Max McCoy. They need to set up a travel agency in the Globe building. As for Nodler, he may have lost a friend at the Globe, but he still has friends in the blogosphere.

Since Davison works for the mighty Carthage Press now, maybe he'll stop belittling members of the other media.

Amazing how much turnover there is at a small paper like the Globe. Is management doing anything to make their reporters better? Any seminars they could send them to?

Oh, no! What am I saying? With the Wally and Andy show, there's no need!

Also means Eddie S. will have to spend money. I know how much he hates that!
