Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney Robert George filed DWI and driving on the wrong half of the roadway charges against Jasper County Presiding Commissioner Chuck Surface today.
The case was assigned to George after Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney Dean Dankelson disqualified himself since his office represents the county commission. Surface was pulled over July 28 by the Jasper County Sheriff's Department.
He subsequently lost the Republican primary to Carthage businessman John Bartosh, something that would have happened regardless.
