I'm not sure who Gary Nodler is supporting in Missouri's hotly-contested state auditor race, (though readers have told me it is his Senate colleague John Loudon) but the board of directors of the Nodler Leadership PAC, which purportedly is dedicated to the values and principles of our beloved state senator is putting its money into Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas' campaign.
Ms. Thomas, as has been noted here and elsewhere, is the preferred candidate of Governor Matt Blunt.
Documents filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission indicate Ms. Thomas received the maximum $1,275 from Bankers Capital Life Insurance Co., and Fidelity Insurance Enterprises, Inc. Both list P. O. Box 400, Neosho, as addresses. That is also the address of Community Bank and Trust, Neosho, which has as chairman of the board Rudy Farber, who is also on the board for the Nodler Leadership PAC.
Incorporation documents on file with the Missouri secretary of state's office show Farber listed as president of Fidelity Insurance Enterprises, Inc. I could find no listing for Bankers Capital and a Google search only shows it as a contributor to Missourians for Matt Blunt.
Today's Ethics Commission filing also shows a $500 contribution from William and Tracy Gipson, Carl Junction. Gipson is also a member of the Nodler Leadership PAC Board, and a longtime bigwig with Empire District Electric Company.
Of course, it is little surprise that the Thomas campaign is mining money from the Nodler Leadership PAC since the treasurer for both is Joplin CPA Nick Myers. In an Aug. 4 Ethics Commission filing, the Thomas campaign, which had earlier reported a maximum $1,275 contribution from Myers, received another maximum contribution from his business Nick Myers CPA, bringing the total of Nodler Leadership PAC board members' contributions to Ms. Thomas in August to $4,025.

This makes the point that the Joplin Globe stories linking this PAC to the Elect Nodler Committee were wrong. Nodler has endorsed Loudon. Nodler has always said that he doesn't direct or control the Nodler Leadership PAC as state law forbids. This proves the Senator's integrity and disproves Randy's and the Globe's conspiracy theories.
Please be clear, your piece suggests that the Nodler Leadership PAC has contributed to a Sate Auditor Candidate. Have they or not? The board is free to do as individuals what they want, but you are associating that to the Nodler Leadership PAC. So be honest, has it (The Nodler Leadership PAC) contributed to an Auditor Candidate or not?
Nowhere did I say that the Nodler Leadership PAC contributed to Thomas. In fact, I made it abundantly clear that it was the PAC's officers who made or who were linked to the contributions. That being said, the first anonymous commenter is going way overboard when he says this post proves Gary Nodler's integrity. And if I were so intent on twisting the facts to suit my "conspiracy theories," why would I have run this post in the first place?
