Post-Dispatch article examines Blunt's $100,000 donors, including TAMKO owners

The people who responded to the removal of Missouri's campaign contribution limits by giving more than $100,000 to Governor Matt Blunt's re-election campaign are profiled in today's St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Included among that number are David Humphreys and his mother, Ethelmae Humphreys of TAMKO in Joplin:

David Humphreys and his mother, Ethelmae Humphreys of Joplin, Mo., who are known for their prominent roles in several conservative think tanks.

David Humphreys is on the board of the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion & Liberty, a powerful Libertarian free-market think tank in Grand Rapids, Mich. Ethelmae Humphreys is on the board of directors of the conservative CATO Institute, based in the nation's capital, and the Show-Me Institute in Clayton.

In the past 10 years, the two Humphreys have given well over $400,000 to various Republican congressional candidates and GOP campaign committees around the country, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that tracks donations.
