Voucher proponent is top contributor for Stevenson
The campaign account of Rep. Bryan Stevenson, R-Webb City, received a fresh injection of funds from local sources, according to the disclosure report filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission, but the biggest contributor by far, at $5,000, was the CNS Corporation, Kansas City, named after its owner, prominent educational voucher proponent Charles Norval Sharpe.
Sharpe runs the Heartland Academy, a private school, and has long been a backer of pouring money into private schools. Earlier this year, Sharpe made a $25,000 contribution to Governor Matt Blunt's re-election campaign.
Stevenson reported receiving $18,355 and spending $8,171.71, leaving him with $17,829.09.
