Asiah: He's here with me today
"He's here with me today," Joplin's Asiah Epperson said as she auditioned in Atlanta for American Idol shortly after the death of her father in a car accident.
She performed the LeAnn Rimes song, "How Do I Live," breaking up in the middle of the performance, but not before showing judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson enough to convince them that she has a future on the program.
""I think your dad would be very proud of you," Cowell said. Miss Abdul, brushing away tears, and Jackson were also complimentary.
Host Ryan Seacrest asked Miss Epperson how she made it through the audition.
"Knowing that this is what my dad wanted," she said.
Seacrest asked what she would said to him if she could.
"We did it!"
