Clinton, Huckabee win in Jasper County

Hillary Clinton and Mike Huckabee were the presidential primary winners in Jasper County, according to an article posted on the Joplin Globe website:

In Jasper County: Clinton outpolled Obama nearly 2-to-1 among Democratic voters. Clinton received 4,604 votes, or more than 60 percent of the vote. Obama received 2,775 votes, or 36 percent. Edwards got 173 votes.

Huckabee was the winner among Republican candidates, with 5,226 votes, or 42 percent of the total. Romney received 3,246 votes, or just over 26 percent, and McCain got 3,220, or nearly 26 percent. Paul got 527 votes, and Rudy Giuliani received 71.

With 48 of 48 precincts reporting, about 20,000 voters — more than 27 percent of those registered — cast ballots.
