State to comb through DNA evidence of accused Rowan Ford killer

Chris Collings. Wheaton, one of two men charged with the brutal rape and slaying of nine-year-old Rowan Ford of Stella Nov. 2, 2007, will give hair samples to the state for DNA evidence.

Collings waived a hearing on the state's request today and agreed to give up the hair, as long as it was not cut from his head, according to online court records. "The defendant's hair shall be collected in the following manner: defendant shall comb his hair in the presence of his counsel and Barry County evidence collection officers until a total of 25 hairs are removed. If defendant is unable to comb out 25 hairs, the state will be allowed to pluck the balance up to a total of 25 hairs. THe plucking shall be done at St. John's Hospital, Cassville, by registered nurse on the date and time agreed to by the parties."

Collings and Rowan Ford's stepfather, David Wesley Spears of Stella are scheduled to stand trial in February 2010.

I thought the FBI already took DNA samples in the sink hole, they also took DNA from a Deputy who went in the sink hole with the FBI agents.

The state? I had a daughter- in- law once who was ordered by a judge to take a DNA test to see if she took drugs, it was a hair sample, and she refused to take it and lost her kids over it. I hear the FBI gives a mouth swab for DNA even for sodomy. Humm?????
