Oct. 28 trial date set for former Speaker of the House

An Oct. 28 trial date has been scheduled in New Madrid County Circuit Court for former Speaker of the House Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, who is charged with second degree assault in connection with an alleged incident of rough sex with a Sikeston woman.

The trial is being held in New Madrid County on a change of venue from Scott County.

During a hearing this morning, Jetton waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty.
