Looks like KSN's attemptat an hour long 6pm Newscast didn't work very well. Last place is a poor position. There is some stiff competition like a game show where you guess word puzzles like in hang man, (Wheel of Fortune), and that need to know stuff on Entertainment Tonight. Is KSN unravelling to a slow death or a fast one? Since Perry Sook said in a recent publication, "If you aren't #1 or #2 in local News, you should get out of the Local News Business," does that mean they just quit trying in the coming year?

Can someone explain to me why KOAM TV does so well in the ratings? Is it because their signal stretches further west into Kansas than the Joplin stations? Is it because old people viewers in Kansas stick with it because its in Kansas? Surely Joplin city viewers are not tuning into a Kansas TV station for their local news. Also how they get these assumed rating numbers? Is it done by calling random people?

KOAM wins in Jasper/Newton County as well. Understanding why just requires watching.

KOAM knows old people. The only people who take time to fill out the books.

Guess the great loss of Brian Dorman won't be such a big loss after all huh?

How do these numbers compare to the last November book Randy?

What makes me disbelieve this rating system, is that I really doubt All My Children has so few viewers.

Anyone who doubts these audience numbers can verify them. To shed doubt requires a valid argument. If you don't believe a football field is 100 yards, the go measure it yourself. The shocking thing thing is there is at least one person who believes that what they believe and do is what everyone else does. I'm sure someone can provide audience levels to all the above questions. The question is, do these nay sayers really want to hear the truth?

8:31 that kid was doing better than Jim Jackson. Please do us all a favor and hang it up Jackson; your efforts are clearly not working.

Randy, any information on the Nielsen numbers from the Springfield market? I've always understood KYTV to be the ratings dominator, but I'm curious as to how big a lead it is...

Jim Jackson likes himself too much to even know that others really don't like him.

I like Jim Jackson. Off the air I have found him to be gleeful and full of it at the same time. Now that takes talent.

I also get KY3 in addition to the Joplin stations.I wish KY3 would report on Joplin area news. They do a first class job.

Across the board from the top to the bottom, KY3 is a model for news, weather, and sports reporting.

Across the board, from the top to the bottom, the Joplin area stations have a long way to go to meet the KY3 standards.

Why is everyone on Jim Jackson's case? Once he retires, and he will, you will just find someone else to attack.

Sports reporting in this market hasn't been very good here for 5-10 years now.

The most important number here is that Wheel of Torture gets more viewers than any newscast.
