Snow advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday for Joplin area

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PMCST WEDNESDAY. * SHORT TERM TRENDS...BANDS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW HAVE MOVEDINTO SOUTHEAST KANSAS WITH THE VISIBILITY DROPPING TO A HALFMILD AT CHANUTE KANSAS DURING THE PAST HOUR. AREAS OF LIGHT TOMODERATE SNOW ARE EXPECTED TO AFFECT FAR SOUTHEAST KANSAS BYNOON. LIGHT ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL THEN SPREAD FROM WEST TO EASTINTO PARTS OF WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST MISSOURI THIS AFTERNOONREACHING AS FAR EAST AS THE WARSAW...LEBANON...SPRINGFIELD...ANDMONETT AREAS BY 5 PM. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...ALONG AND NORTH OF A BAXTER SPRINGSKANSAS TO JOPLIN AND OSCEOLA MISSOURI LINE FROM TUESDAY MORNINGTHROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...BY THE TIME SNOW ENDS ON WEDNESDAY...3 TO 5INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED WITH LOCALIZED AMOUNTS AMOUNTSAROUND 6 INCHES POSSIBLE. * WINDS AND VISIBILITY...SUSTAINED WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WILL CAUSE SOME MINOR BLOWING AND DRIFTING. * IMPACTS...ACCUMULATING SNOW COULD RESULT IN SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS ACROSS THE AREA...ESPECIALLY LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
