Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) and the U.S. House have approved the Require a PLAN Act to require President Obama to produce a plan to balance the federal budget.
“Families and businesses in Missouri’s Fourth District and throughout our country create budgets to set spending priorities,” said Hartzler. “It’s time for Washington to do the same. Washington’s out-of-control spending is destroying jobs, harming our fragile economy, and loading mountains of debt onto our children and grandchildren. We must preserve the American dream for future generations who are dependent on spending being brought under control.”
“For two years, the House has passed responsible budgets that reduce spending while encouraging economic growth,” continued Hartzler. “As part of the ‘No Budget, No Pay’ bill we recently passed, the House will work to put the country on the path to a balanced budget in ten years. The American people deserve common sense fiscal planning and they have a right to expect it from their elected representatives. My House colleagues and I are committed to outlining and delivering on spending priorities. We need the Senate and White House equally committed to this responsible approach.”
The Require a PLAN Act stipulates that the White House must either produce a balanced budget within a 10-year window or provide a supplemental budget plan by April 1st of this year that identifies which fiscal year the Obama Administration’s plan wold achieve balance.
