HOWELL-SHANNON-TANEY-OZARK-OREGON- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...WEST PLAINS...WINONA...EMINENCE... BRANSON...FORSYTH...GAINESVILLE...THEODOSIA...THAYER...ALTON 342 AM CST SAT MAR 1 2014 ...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST MONDAY... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...AREAS ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM BRANSON TO EMINENCE FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. * SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...ONE TO THREE INCHES OF COMBINED SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED ACROSS THIS AREA...WITH MOST SLEET AND SNOW FALLING LATER SUNDAY INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. * ICE ACCUMULATIONS...RAIN WILL CHANGE OVER TO FREEZING RAIN LATER THIS EVENING INTO TO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. FREEZING RAIN AMOUNTS OF A QUARTER TO AS MUCH AS A HALF INCH ARE EXPECTED...WITH THE HIGHER AMOUNTS FURTHER SOUTH. FREEZING RAIN AMOUNTS MAY BE HIGH ENOUGH TO IMPACT TREES AND POWER LINES IN SOME LOCATIONS. * WINDS AND VISIBILITY...NORTH WINDS BETWEEN 10 AND 20 MPH...WITH GUSTS BETWEEN 20 AND 30 MPH...ARE EXPECTED THROUGH EARLY MONDAY MORNING. WIND GUSTS MAY ENHANCE THE IMPACTS OF FREEZING RAIN ON TREES AND POWER LINES. IN ADDITION...CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED. VISIBILITIES MAY BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN A HALF MILE IN AREAS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL. * IMPACTS...WIDESPREAD WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL MAKE TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE. ICE ACCUMULATIONS ON TREES AND POWER LINES MAY RESULT IN ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WILL MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR HIGHWAY DEPARTMENTS TO KEEP ROADWAYS CLEAR...ESPECIALLY EAST TO WEST ROADWAYS...WHERE BLOWING AND DRIFTING WILL BE GREATEST. VERY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL RESULT IN A RISK FOR FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA FOR ANYONE WITHOUT PROPER SHELTER.
