THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...MIXED WITH SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...AREAS GENERALLY ALONG AND TO THE NORTH OF U.S. HIGHWAY 54 FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. * SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET WILL BE POSSIBLE TONIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY...BEFORE PRECIPITATION CHANGES TO MOSTLY SNOW. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 5 TO 9 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.
