...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM
CST MONDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...MIXED WITH SLEET AND FREEZING
RAIN...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST
MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...AREAS GENERALLY ALONG AND TO THE
NORTH OF U.S. HIGHWAY 54 FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY
  MORNING.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET WILL
BE POSSIBLE TONIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY...BEFORE PRECIPITATION
CHANGES TO MOSTLY SNOW. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 5 TO
9 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THE HIGHEST
AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED NORTH OF A WARSAW TO OSAGE BEACH LINE.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A GLAZE TO TENTH OF AN INCH OF FREEZING RAIN
IS EXPECTED TONIGHT...BEFORE PRECIPITATION CHANGES TO A MIX OF
  SLEET AND SNOW.

* WINDS AND VISIBILITY...NORTH WINDS BETWEEN 10 AND 20 MPH...WITH
GUSTS BETWEEN 20 AND 30 MPH...ARE EXPECTED THROUGH EARLY MONDAY
MORNING. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BE VERY LIGHT AND FLUFFY IN
NATURE...AND CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW CAN BE
EXPECTED. VISIBILITIES MAY BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN A HALF MILE
IN AREAS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL.

* IMPACTS...WIDESPREAD WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL MAKE TRAVEL
ACROSS THE REGION DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE. BLOWING AND DRIFTING
OF SNOW WILL MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR HIGHWAY DEPARTMENTS TO
KEEP ROADWAYS CLEAR...ESPECIALLY EAST TO WEST ROADWAYS...WHERE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING WILL BE GREATEST. VERY COLD TEMPERATURES
WILL RESULT IN A RISK FOR FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA FOR ANYONE
  WITHOUT PROPER SHELTER.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
CONSIDER TAKING A WINTER STORM KIT ALONG WITH YOU. THIS KIT SHOULD
INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS TIRE CHAINS...BOOSTER CABLES...A
FLASHLIGHT...SHOVEL...BLANKETS...EXTRA CLOTHING AND ANYTHING ELSE
THAT WOULD HELP YOU SURVIVE IN CASE YOU BECOME STRANDED.
