Help wanted- New Joplin High School band director needed

Joplin R-8 officials acted quickly to post an opening for a high school band director following Tuesday's sudden announcement by new director Chris Mudd that he was resigning.

Mudd, who was interim band director following the resignation late in 2013 of Rick Castor, was hired for the position and appeared ready and eager to enter his first full year when he told students during the second day of band camp that he was quitting, citing stress and family.

This is what R-8 Administration is looking for in a new high school band director:

What stress could there possibly be from working for R-8? This is so sad that another excellent employee feels forced to resign to retain his sanity.

Maybe being told you can practice outside until October since you won't have a room has something to do with it.

But won't he miss the 6 1/2 mile Mission Accomplished ribbon dedication ceremony with special guest George W. Bush?
