Joplin High School band director quits

Joplin High School Band members were stunned today when new Joplin High School band director Chris Mudd told them he was quitting, just three weeks before the start of school and on the second day of band camp.

Mudd was not specific in his talk to the students, but he mentioned stress and family reasons.

After that, an administrator told students that the job would be posted tomorrow.

Mudd had been the band director at South Middle School before taking the job on an interim basis, following the resignation of Rick Castor during the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year.

More information to come.

He was and is a great great man. Our band certainly didn't deserve a director as good as him, and he did something that we never experienced before: We have been shown what we are capable of. What we can do. I'm glad to have had this time with him.

He never was specific. The band is having a tough time but trying to keep chins up. Had this happen to then two times in a 12 month period. It puts then years behind and at this point it can either go way uphil or can plummet for the worst . Fingers crossed.

Looks like you have a big problem in your school to let a 3rd very good band director go.
This last person was a good man. You all know what chased him, off. Fix IT.
When. Are you going to grow up! Joplin school have1 become, the current laughing stock!
Tell the egomaniac to go home and get out of things they know nothing about
