Have you seen this man?
Reports have been received of a middle-aged man showing up today at Joplin elementary schools and asking to have his picture taken with five-year-old students.
It is not clear whether the police are on site at any of the campuses. This is not a new occurrence, the Turner Report has been told. The man has reportedly been visiting the elementary schools on the first day of school for the past seven years.
If you see this man, do not approach him and whatever you do, do not, I repeat, do not give him money. He will just keep asking for more.
One observer told the Turner Report, "He doesn't quite look like the same guy who was doing this a couple of years ago,but he must be. He says the same thing every year. Says he does it for the kids. That poor guy needs help."

Mr. Turner
I understand that you are a very unhappy man that is no longer employed by the Joplin School District-
At some point you are going to need to learn that this is not always going to be about you and the history that you have with Dr. Huff, I have students that attend these schools and overall under all the circumstances that he has had thrown at him I feel he is a remarkable person. In fact he is the reason that we moved our children and put them in the Joplin School district, I have never had regret for making that choice. I may not agree with all the choices that he and the school board made during the rebuilding phase- but I guarantee you one thing these kids will be in a STATE of the ART school and have a great opportunity to learn!! At some point (and it needs to be sooner than later) you need to grow up and move on with your life!!! I’m going to be deleting you from all my social media outlets I have had enough of your negativity.
I'm just a little pissed he gets his daily salary to do this
This post crosses a line. You have moved from evidentiary revelations to schoolgirl sniping. Shame.
When my granddaughter comes home today I'm fairly certain that having her picture taken with C.J. won't be anywhere near the top of her "best things that happened on her first day of school." These kids don't even know who C.J. Huff is, which is probably a good thing.
Anonymous @8:40 AM: for the vast, vast majority of things students learn in K-12, "STATE of the ART" is entirely irrelevant. Unless, of course, newer methods can be proven as better.
"State of the art" reading instruction was the Whole Word method in the period leading up to Why Johnny Can't Read in 1955, which in a couple of years was followed by a Saturday Evening Post article on why "Johnny Can Read in Joplin", and which was then reprinted for wider consumption in the Reader's Digest, I read my grandmother's copy of it in the '70s. That I was able to read in was in part true because Joplin was still using the same approach.
Books and paper, or perhaps a laptop, a good teacher, a black or white board and/or overhead project, and earnest work are what's needed to learn at this level. Heck, the same it true for the beginning STEM courses taught at college, those foundational courses don't even need to teach much beyond the state of the art in the 19th century (chemistry needs early 20th century quantum mechanics, and biology is the outlier with so much new stuff continuing to be discovered ... but then again the tools to teach this remain the same).
I don't know of anyone who believes the "good teachers" are optional, and if under the well documented tyranny of the Huff regime, which began long before the tornado, makes it difficult to impossible to attract and retain good teachers---it says something when 1/6 leave each year---then all that "STATE of the ART" gloss is just lipstick on a pig.
Heck, what about the end of enforcing discipline for all but I assume the most severe cases? Unless Randy and the others are lying through their teeth about this, Joplin is going to be graduating a lot of people who are going to make the city into a very nasty place. I was born and raised in Joplin (and taught in the R-VIII schools by mostly good teachers who with the administration enforced discipline), and have retired to it. I'm not looking forward to that prospect.
Psh all these comments about how you've crossed the line. I'm a student and cj huff is stupid and he should defiantly not be the supertindent. Mr turner you go. This was an awesome read. Ps at graduation not shaking his hand
This is no more over the line that anything said at Randy's hearing where he was accused of "grooming" kids. Huff only does this to satisify his ego and to project the image that he isn't going to leave Joplin.
Lame plea for attention.
Dear 10:07: the fact that you anticipate graduation, given your syntax, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling simply underlines the problem with public education.
Oh this cracked me up. Point for Turner. I'm waiting for the KO at the end of the round.
OMG!!! You have crossed the line Turner. What little respect I have had for you (which is really none, and I have known you for a long time) has completely vanished. You have taken your vendetta to a new level. But why should I expect anything but this kind of treatment from you. You have taken a great tradition and trashed it. And the reason you are doing it now and not three, four or five years ago was because you were scared.
It was all fun and games when Huff accused Turner of grooming children....KARMA.
I started reading this blog about a year ago hoping for some solid unbiased insite. However in the past months I have been seeing a great deal of personal vendetta rather than anything unbiased and this post illustrates that perfectly. This post would never be published in true journalism, so why is it legit here? Insinuating that Mr. Huff is grooming young kids is a sophomoric attempt at rabble rousing to say the least. Truly the emperor has no cloths and is prancing through the streets. However the emperor's name isn't Huff, it's Turner...
This post is prime Facebook fodder. Nothing but drama mud slinging and thoughts better kept to ones self . This is truly an embarrassment...
To those of you who are trying to take this and use it to turn people against Turner, you might as well give up. The difference is a big one. Turner is funny- C. J. Huff is a joke.

You just wished a man dead in a public forum because he stands on the"wrong side" of a feud.
You may want to do a little more thinking about who is evil.
Turner has a following. It's not small. We like the truth and we can laugh too. I've never seen a Pro-Turner Reader/Commenter wish Huff dead.
I can tell you for a fact that 5 and 6 year olds don't know who Huff is or why he wanted pictures with them. It's not going to affect the graduation rate or how those kids feel about school. They have a lot of years left and a lot to learn and Huff isn't the one that is going to teach it to them.
Yes, shame on you Randy Turner! The correct way to make comments like this is to call meetings in multiple locations with people who are forced to listen to you. You should never joke or be lighthearted. However, you may cry from time to time if done at the appropriate point in your diatribe where you falsely accuse your nemesis of being a porn peddlar.
Get it right, Turner.
The complete lack of reading comprehension - among the adults unhappy with this satiric piece - leads me to believe lack of education has been rampant in the Joplin school district for decades - and you sure can't blame that on Huff.
Tell me, is that why Huff has been able to pull the wool over your eyes and sucker you members of the public into lining his pockets with silver again and again? In addition to a complete lack of reading comprehension, has the education you've received left you severely lacking in other areas, too?
Reading this and attacking Mr. Turner is the equivalent of posting to Faceboook an article from The Onion - and believing it, even as your friends post back and call bullshit. You're ignorant. You know nothing of writing. You know nothing of genres. You don't remember what they should have taught you in English class - when you were in GRADESCHOOL.
This is satire, people. SATIRE. S.A.T.I.R.E. It's a form of writing. It's a GENRE. A genre is a CATEGORY in COMPOSITION. GOOD SATIRE is welcomed by those of us who think, because not only is it funny when it's good, on the flip side it brings out those who could be recipients of the Darwin Award - thus enabling those of us who cannot tolerate stupidity to steer clear of you.
My Turner is a master at satire. CJ Huff, the school board, and all of the rats following the huffing Piped Piper deeper into the bowels of his sinking ship have given Turner enough fodder to write for major satire publications for the next many years. May he continue to do so, and may he be paid well to do it.
Let me save you the trip to the dictionary - although I doubt any of you people bitching about this satiric piece have a dictionary in your house. Here's the definition of satire. Read it. You'll find you owe Mr. Turner an apology.
