Health insurance costs for Joplin R-8 employees will increase by $144 annually under a plan scheduled to be voted on by the Board of Education during its 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 26 meeting.
The increase, which will see $12 a month extra coming out of employees' paychecks, increases the amount employees pay for their health insurance from $63 to $75 a month, or $900 a year.
The increase, according to docuements prepared by CFO Paul Barr, is due to the Affordable Care Act. The district will pay the other $325 out of the $400 a month cost.
The employee dental plan will remain the same under the proposal.
The figures mentioned above are for employees who are paying only for themselves and not for other family members.
