Search of Neosho home leads to child porn charges against illegal alien

Federal prosecutors are asking that a Neosho man be held without bond on child pornography charges.

Documents filed this morning in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri indicate that Fernando Hugo Alvarez was arrested after child pornography was discovered during a search of his home at 314 Hamilton Street, Apartment 2, Neosho.

Police were led to Alvarez after an undercover computer officer working for the FBI's Cyber Crimes Task Force obtained child pornography involving an adult male and girls appeared to be nine or 10 years old through file sharing on July 14. The materials were traced to Alvarez' computer.

The Department of Homeland Security has targeted Alvarez for deportation, according to the detention motion, which would give him ample reason to flee if he is released on bond, the prosecutor argued.

Alvarez admitted to "downloading multiple files of child pornography" and distributing it, according to the motion.
