C. J. Huff: High school teachers were too "anxious"; they weren't ready

The process of blaming the late opening of the new Joplin High School on the teachers continues.

An updated post on KZRG has Superintendent C. J. Huff saying he canceled the scheduled beginning of school on Monday, August 25, and moved it to Tuesday, September 2, because teachers were so concerned about the building and were so "anxious" they would not be able to teach effectively:

"In talking to our faculty and staff, it's become apparent that there's some anxiety, there's some concern about whether or not they're going to be ready to teach kids on Monday. I've come to the conclusion that the best thing we can do is delay the opening of Joplin High and Franklin Technical Center."

Holy Cow Turner!!!!! Huff was not blaming the teachers. He was just saying they were anxious about teaching in an unsafe environment. that is not blame. That is just facts. Have you ever thought about working for the New York Times, Washington Post or MSNBC? They also twist the truth and facts. You are a man on a mission and that mission won't be complete until you destroy C.J. Huff. Get over it!!!!!!!!!

No....it is what it is. Savior Huff could have fulfilled his prophesy if those damn teachers hadn't been so concerned with our children's and their own safety.

12:20...I disagree. Huff needs to be transparent to earn the trust of the community. We all know that if the teachers are not ready, it is because the BUILDING is not ready. He needs to quit insulting our intelligence and stop putting his PR spin on everything. Or, in his terms, "control the message."

Could it be that teachers are not ready because the majority are first year or new to the district?!?!?!

Teachers just got to go into the building for the first time this week while Huff and company have been there for months. After a day or two in the building the teachers know it is not yet safe to start school. That tells me the teachers are a lot smarter than Huff, yet he was willing to sacrifice the health and safety of staff and students just so he could say Mission Accomplished!

Wow, what a guy!

What if it wasn't about blaming anyone, but rather honoring the team. What if Dr. Huff realized that forging ahead so quickly when the teachers weren't able to get into the buildings earlier wasn't what was best for them? Why is it about "blame" at all?? Always a negative spin...

Good job CJ. You've managed to lay blame everywhere but where a real leader would lay it, at your own feet. You have to see the writing on the wall now. We will let you soak up your last few weeks and months of glory, but its time to move on please. We will clean up and shut out the lights. Thank you for your service.
