What criteria are used to determine these numbers?

So since Joplin's scores are up 6.4%, maybe you won't be so hard on them for the changes they've made. In spite of all of the challenges district-wide, I'd say that's a pretty big accomplishment!

You are confusing scores with the overall APR, which includes graduation rates, attendance rates, discipline, etc. Many of those items can be, shall we say, "enhanced" while the academic scores are more difficult to alter. The academic scores place Joplin Public Schools dead last in this area. Apparently it takes more than innovation and buildings to make learning happen.

Not hard to improve that APR when you change the attendance and graduate anyone that breathes.

If you read the individual school reports there are only 4 schools over the 85 APR score and 10 that are below the 85 APR score. You should look at year to year improvement of each school. This would give you a better indication of improvement. Sorry, I can't cheer for the district when Soaring Heights has a 45.7 while Stapleton has a 98.6. Why is there a 21 point swing between East and North? We need more than the raw numbers to see if we are getting better. Maybe the trend is improving but it needs to improve in ALL of the Joplin schools.

Poor Diamond, looks like the chaos created by these clowns on the school board has affected the apr score and school performance. Just a few years ago they were accredited with distinction now everyone in the district is looking for a different job. Just truly sad.
