Joplin City Clerk Barb Hogelin has announced the schedule for upcoming meetings and work sessions through September for the Joplin City Council.
On Monday, August 25, 2014, the Joplin City Council will have a Special Meeting beginning at 6 p.m. The agenda includes Public Hearings on the fiscal year 2014-2015 proposed budget and on the 2015 property tax rate, as well as several ordinances relating to the wastewater treatment plant improvements. In 2009, Joplin voters approved the City issuing up to $35 million in low-interest revenue bonds to pay for the cost of the sewer system improvements.
In addition, the City Clerk has announced that the first Council meeting in September has been moved to Tuesday, September 2 due to the Labor Day holiday on the first Monday (September 1) which is the Council’s usual meeting day.
Council meetings begin at 6 p.m., and are held in the Council Chambers on the fifth floor of City Hall, 602 South Main.
The City Council’s budget work sessions have been scheduled for mid-September. The meetings will be held on Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23 to review the proposed annual budget for the City of Joplin with the City staff. These work sessions begin at 5:45 p.m. in the conference room located on the fifth floor of City Hall. If the agenda items are not completed within the first two meetings, an additional work session will be held on Wednesday, September 24.
