Denny's, 11570 FF Highway; Lotus XPress, 801 E 20th; and Pho Saigon Vietnamese Noodle & Grill failed Joplin Health Department inspections this week, according to information on the department website.
Denny's
During its inspection at Denny's Thursday, inspectors cited one priority violation and six core violations.
The priority violation was for having pancake batter, sweet cream, cut tomatoes, pico de gallo and cheese in a True Prep Table Cooler being cold held above 41 degrees.
Core violations were cited for the following:
-A container of food was stored uncovered in the upright freezer adjacent to the grill.
-Floor tiles and grout throughout the facility, including areas wtih broken and missing tiles, were not smooth, durable, easily cleanable, or non-absorbent in moisture-prone areas.
-The light intensity in the dry storage room was less than required.
-Non-operational food equipment was stored on site.
-A ceiling tile was missing above the mop sink
-Several conventional air ducts and filters had an accumulation of dust.
Lotus Xpress
During its inspection Thursday, Lotus Xpress recorded six priority violations and nine core violations.
Priority violations were cited for the following:
-A food employee wearing gloves was observed carrying handfuls of raw chicken from the walk-in cooler and depositing the chicken in a pot for cooking, then walked to the sink and ran the gloves under running water, dried them with a rag and returned to work in the kitchen instead of disposing of the gloves.
-Food items were stored in the chest freezer in non-food grade shopping bags.
-Raw chicken was stored above shrimp in the walk-in cooler.
-Raw chicken was in the raw beef container in the prep cooler.
-Potentially hazardous food items were being cold held above 41 degrees.
-Medicines were stored above salt and pepper packets and single service items in the dry storage area.
Core violations were cited for the following:
-Debris accumulations were seen around and beneath cooking equipment.
-A fryer stored in the back area had debris and grease accumulations.
-Grease and debris were accumulating and dripping from the fire suppression system adjacent to the cooking hood.
-Oil and grease residue had accumulated around the dumpster.
-Rags were stored in a cooler in the back that was not in use and had debris buildup inside.
-Handles to cooler and freezer doors had debris accumulation.
-Soil/discoloring was present on the outside of bins used to store various foods.
-Bins on the dish storage rack were cracked and damaged.
-Produce boxes were stored on the floor in the walk-in cooler.
Pho Saigon Vietnamese Noodle & Grill
During its inspection Tuesday, Pho Saigon Vietnames Noodle & Grill recorded five priority violations and eight core violations.
Priority violations were cited for the following:
-Food items were stored in non-food grade shopping bags in the freezer.
-Chlorine sanitizer was dispensed and applied at less than 50 ppm chlorine in the dish machine.
-Live roaches were seen in the beverage, dish and dry storage areas.
-Multiple pesticide containers were present that were not labeled for use in a food establishment and appeared to be in use.
-Toxins were stored above and among food items in the kitchen and dry storage area.
Core violations were cited for the following:
-A scoop used for rice was stored on top of the rice cooker, which had debris accumulation.
-Multiple containers of food items were stored uncovered in the prep area, dry storage area and walk-in cooler.
-The chest freezer on the west wall of the drink area had a heavy frost buildup.
-A handwashing sink was obstructed by stools.
-The lid to the grease trap below the dish machine was heavily rusted.
-Raw lumber used for cabinets, shelves and tables in the drink and kitchen areas is not smooth, durable, easily cleanable and non-absorbent in areas subject to moisture.
-Debris residue was present on floors, walls and hard to reach areas.
-Employee food items were stored with establishment food throughout the kitchen and in multiple coolers.
Reinspections
Two restaurants that failed recent inspections passed their reinspections.
Wallfe House, 3506 S. Range Line Road, which failed a June 23 inspection, passed Thursday and Mosa Hibachi & Sushi Express, which failed a June 26 inspection, passed Wednesday.

Thanks for letting us know I dam sure will never eat at these places they always looked suspect to me .
And why are these places allowed to continue to serve people? Thats downright disgusting
