A Neosho woman was found passed out in her car May 11 while her three children ages 2, 3 and 5 were running around in the 7th Street Walmart parking lot, according to a probable cause statement filed today in Jasper County Circuit Court.
The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney charged Ayzia Zaylyn Walker (DOB 2002) with driving while intoxicated and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.
Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety for Walker.
From the probable cause statement:
On 5/11/2025 I, Officer Hopper was dispatched to the abovementioned location reference a juvenile check. Dispatch advised that the caller, W1, had observed a blue 4 door vehicle in the back of the parking lot with 3 children running around. W1 believed the children to be unattended.I arrived on scene and observed the vehicle, a blue Hyundai Accent bearing Missouri temp tag O7UPU6. I also observed what appeared to be a juvenile male entering the vehicle. I contacted the driver, who was identified to be Ayzia Walker.
She appeared to be asleep upon initial contact. Her speech was slow and she repeatedly stumbled her her words, stuttering and repeating herself. I also observed what appeared to be empty shooter bottles under the driver seat. There was also a cup lying next to the driver door containing vomit, which Walker stated was hers. She advised me she was unaware her children had been running around the vehicle.
Walker then admitted to me several times that she had driven to the location prior to picking up her children. I conducted Standard Field Sobriety Tests (SFST's) and observed multiple clues of impairment. Walker provided a Preliminary Breath Test resulting in a BAC of 0.171.
At the jail after implied consent was read, Walker provided a breath test on the Intoxilyzer 8000 instrument resulting in a BAC of 0.170.
