(From the Chris Wright Campaign)Chris Wright, a 24-year military veteran, former law enforcement officer, small business owner, and lifelong Southwest Missouri resident, has officially announced his candidacy for the Missouri House of Representatives, District 160. Grounded in service, family, and hard work, Wright is committed to restoring common sense, transparency, and local accountability in Jefferson City.
Wright's record speaks for itself. With 24 years of military service and seven years on the Neosho Police Department (five full-time, two in the reserves), his career has been shaped by duty and dedication.
Raised between McDonald and Newton Counties near Longview, Wright understands the values, challenges, and priorities of Missouri’s 160th District.
“I’m not here to play political games or attend lobbyist cocktail parties,” Wright stated. “I’m here to fight for our families, protect property rights, and secure our future. Unelected bodies like the Public Service Commission and the State Tax Commission are making decisions that crush small businesses and family farms. That must change.”
Together with his wife Nicole, who serves as Deputy Treasurer of the campaign, Wright is raising four children, three of whom have attended Neosho public schools. He is the owner of Dig Wright Equipment Rentals in Carterville—a business he deliberately located outside of Neosho out of respect for long-standing local companies like Scott’s Rental.
Wright is no stranger to community service. He has donated more than $26,000 worth of equipment to causes such as Vita Nova Village and Peterson Outdoor Ministries, always giving quietly and without seeking recognition. He is also a proud and active member of the VFW Post 4142 Neosho, continuing his lifelong dedication to veterans and first responders.

In a race that will likely draw stark contrasts, Wright’s campaign offers a clear departure from special interest-driven politics. “I won’t take money from lobbyist-funded events like the Halloween party in Jefferson City,” Wright added. “I won’t be bought—because that’s not who I am.”
Wright’s campaign is led by Treasurer Mark Smallwood and Deputy Treasurer Nicole Wright, and will focus on grassroots outreach, common-sense solutions, and putting people—not politics—first.
