People were not thrilled with Joplin R-8 Board member Mike Landis' statement last year when the board appointed Shawn McGrew instead of Jeff Koch to the board seat vacated when Dawn Sticklen resigned after enrolling her daughter at Webb City High School.
The board eliminated Jennifer Martucci and Lane Roberts for consideration, saying they wanted someone who had run for the board in the April election. That left Jeff Koch, who had finished fourth, barely missing election, and McGrew, who finished sixth, receiving approximately 900 votes less than Koch.
When it was pointed out to Landis that Koch had received more votes in the election, the comment received the high-pitched response "Elections don't matter."
Landis and those who have supported the C. J. Huff Administration should have figured out by now that elections do matter, considering that two straight board presidents, Jeff Flowers and Anne Sharp, have gone down to defeat with neither faring well with the voters, while reform candidates Debbie Fort, Koch, and Martucci have been elected by wide margins.
Apparently, it is not just elections that don't matter.
When his former colleague on the board Jim Kimbrough, presented petitions containing more than 300 notarized signatures Tuesday night, Landis, without bothering to look at the petitions, tossed them aside.
In the world of Mike Landis, not only do elections do not matter, but neither do petitions and apparently neither does the public.
Thankfully, after April 2016, it is Mike Landis who will not matter.
After April 2016, maybe Landis, Sharp and Huff can hold board meetings in Huff's basement.
ReplyDeleteallowing people like mike LANDIS ,AND STEEL THAT SHOW NO CONCERN FOR WHAT THE TAX PAYERS WANT,SHOULD NOT BE ON OUR SCHOOL BOARD,OUR GOOD PEOPLE AND OUR STUDENTS and teachers SHOULD NOT HALF TO PAY FOR THERE LACK OF concern for others, only careing about there egos
ReplyDeleteMy question to Mike Landis - How DO YOU handle an angry parent who calls? Or better yet emails you?
ReplyDeleteNot answer , ignore, pretend it doesn't exist
You're little smirk is going to be leaving your face one day-
Mikey Landis is a small man, both in stature and morals. He has ALWAYS had to ride on the coat-tails of someone else to get ahead. First his father, who he almost bankrupted, Huff and even his own son. Those in the construction business in and around Joplin had little to no respect for him with his ranting and cursing at contractors. He will be out of this office soon enough, but word is that he will run for another county position. Hopefully the voters will remember his llittle man and not elect him. If we are lucky, he will move on.
ReplyDeleteMike Landis is a perfect example of the entitled financially elitist mentality. To him, Sharp, and others of the silver spoon crowd, none of us "matter." We mere mortals are simply soulless interchangeable parts that make up the machinery that serves their personal objectives. It is their divine right to rule as they see fit. The oblivious behavior exhibited when that right is challenged is further evidence of their detachment to reality and we dregs who comprise the bulk of humanity. Wealth does not equate with a superiority complex any more than it being synonymous with virtue. However, those who taste its fruits, especially from birth, need exercise caution lest they forget that we are all cut from the same cloth, and the majority rules in this nation.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry this fool works for atlas safe rooms
ReplyDeletePretty scary
Along with Annie Sharp what a complete and utter idiot. Petitions do matter. Remember that next April and make sure this buffoon is no longer on the BOE. I hope with the selection of a new board president and vice president they move Mike's seat away from CJ. The nasty comments, giggling, unprofessional and rude behavior of Landis and Huff might be lessoned and intelligent discussions can begin.
ReplyDeleteLandis and Steele need to go. Anyone that contributed to this mess and allowing Huff to stay will be voted out!
ReplyDeleteCan these people get anymore full of themselves?
ReplyDeleteIf the previous BOE had cared enough to consider what the taxpayers wanted, we would not be in this mess.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Jim Kimbrough a part of the "previous BOE" ?
ReplyDeleteI wish we didn't have to wait until election time to get rid of the hypocrite Landis. It says in the Globe that he doesn't think we should have Kimbrough back because he's been on the Board too long. But as I recall, Landis has been on it even longer, so according to his own logic, he really needs to step off. I' okay with him leaving today.
ReplyDeleteI never understood referring to another human being as "a little prick." Now I get it.
